ABNER BOATWRIGHT (WILLIAM6, JOHN5, JOHN4, JOHN3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born 28 Jul 1807 in Georgia, and died 15 Nov 1901 in Long Creek, Oconee County, South Carolina. He married DELPHIA HOLMES 10 Feb 1839 in Habersham County, Georgia, daughter of GIDEON HOLMES and RACHEL CAMP. She was born 03 Aug 1816 in Georgia, and died 20 Aug 1913 in Long Creek, Oconee County, South Carolina. Notes for ABNER BOATWRIGHT: Pickens District, SC Deed Book C-1 Pickens District SC, I James M. Obituary: Keowee Courier Dec. 5, 1900 Mr. Abner Boatwright died at his home on Tugaloo River one day last week, aged about 100 years and no doubt was the oldest man in Oconee county. Mr. Boatwright was one of this county's most upright and reliable citizens and will be greatly missed. He was a valiant soldier in the Confederate army, and, although above the age of young manhood when the call was made for volunteers, he responded promptly and enlist in Company C, Second S.C. Rifles, Capt. O.M. Doyle, and served faithfully as long as his age and health would permit. The deceased has been a constant reader of the Keowee Courier since its inception. Mr. Boatwright leave a wife and two children to mourn his death. His remains were laid to rest in the family burying ground on his farm. The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of many friends.
